Learn to Pray Effectively, No. 8

Pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit. "As you have received Christ Jesus, so walk ye in Him" Col 2:5. You believed the Lord Jesus finished what He came to do, to suffer and die for your sins, pay the debt in full and rise again! (1 Peter 3:18, Corinthians 15:1-5, Romans 1:16)  Believing that, you received the Lord Jesus as your Savior. Most finalized it by praying and telling the Lord Jesus you trust He paid your debt of sin and receive Him as your Savior. You then have the Holy Spirit living in you. "If any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His" - he is not saved! Romans 8:12. Every believer has the Holy Spirit but the Holy Spirit does not have every believer. He does not control him. Most believers are not filled or controlled by the Holy Spirit and are missing the joy of their salvation.

God tells us, "Be not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine (don't be controlled by alcohol, don't be under the influence of alcohol) but be filled (be controlled) with the Spirit" Ephesians 5:17,18. Now God tells us, "And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us; and if we know that t he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him" 1 John 5:14,15. Is it the will of God for every believer to be filled (controlled) by the Holy Spirit? YES, he said so in Ephesians 5:17. Then, by faith, we are confident that when we ask Him to take control , "We have" that petition, for God cannot lie. This is how you put the Holy Spirit in the drivers seat of your life so that He runs you life, He controls you. The minute you grab the wheel and have a wreck, confess the sin, and ask Him right then and there to get back in the drivers seat, fill you and take control of your life. This is how you walk in the Spirit, confession of sin and control of the Spirit. It is vital that we begin every day by asking the Holy Spirit to take control of our lives. That is what He came to do and will the moment you ask Him.

The "Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace" Galations 5:22. The minute you lose the joy of your salvation or lack peace or don't have love, you are walking in the flesh. Don't quibble, acknowledge it, confess every sin, no matter how little it might seem and ask the Holy Spirit to take control again. Begin the day this way and it will transform your prayer life and your whole life. Stop right now, move over and put the Holy Spirit in the drivers seat of you life afresh.

"To be rightly related to Christ makes you a Christian, to be rightly related to the Holy Spirit makes you a Spirit filled Christian" L.S. Chafer.

Oh dear people live this way and enjoy life to the fullest. This is the passion of my life for you. I love you, all because of Calvary, Sumner

Our Father, anyone missing the joy of their salvation or lacking the peace of God let them right now confess any known sin and yield themselves to the Holy Spirit and restore the joy of their salvation. Give them a great day and use them to the fullest to be a blessing and give the gospel to someone today so they have a chance to go to heaven. I pray this in Jesus name and for His glory, Amen
