Share the Gospel
Relax! Witnessing is not the great debate!
This is crucial to understand. Too many people go at witnessing as though
they are approaching an adversary and they have to convince, convict and
convert them. No! I am their friend and I have the
best news they ever heard, oops, MOST HAVE NOT HEARD IT. Our task is to
share the "gospel," the GOOD NEWS, how the Lord Jesus suffered and died for
our sins, paid the debt in full, rose again, and was seen by hundreds of
people, so we can know Him personally. Does that make sense? Let God do the
convincing, convicting and converting. You just share the gospel-the good
news! Don't get sidetracked.
Ninety-nine percent of the time, people are going to respond to you the same
way you approach them. If you are gracious and relaxed, they will be too. If
you have the joy of the Lord in your heart and a smile of the Lord on your
face, they will be far more likely to want listen. It is so important to
realize this.
NEVER talk about "sharing your faith." I am dead serious about this. That
has the idea that I have to share this great big body of "truth," defend my
position, answer all their questions and it scares people to death. No, we
are to share the "gospel." Jesus said, "Preach the gospel" Mark 16:15. He
did not say. "Preach your faith." The "Gospel is the power of God unto
salvation" Romans 1:16. People are not saved by our "faith," they are saved
by the "gospel." Please think this through. It will transform you
witnessing.
Good news, how Christ died for our sins, paid the debt in full, rose again
and was seen alive by hundreds of people. You mean you don't want to tell
everyone this good news? Don't you wish someone would graciously tell this
to your unsaved Dad or Mother or relative who
lives far away and they call you to tell you how they just got saved. Come
one folks, that is what the Christian life is all about. "Herein is my
father glorified that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples" John
15:8. The much fruit must include winning souls as well as anything else. |
