Sumner was a ‘Firebrand,’ a person who is passionate about a particular cause, typically inciting change and taking radical action. Sumner was a firebrand for Jesus and Sumner was a firebrand with the gospel of Jesus Christ. And now he’s passed that fiery baton to you and me with the exhortation of a life well lived, for you and me to carry well and faithfully the firebrand of his passion for the gospel and for Jesus Christ across the finish line to finish well just as he has done before us. Let’s celebrate and honor Sumner’s life as we go forward by being firebrands for Jesus and firebrands for the Gospel in our own way and in our own time.
Sumner Wemp, at age 90, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. Read his obituary or watch a video of the funeral service.
