Why God Used C.
H. Spurgeon So Greatly
A young preacher asked Mr. Spurgeon the great English
preacher, "Why is it when you preach people always get saved. When I preach
nothing happens?" Mr. Spurgeon said, "You don't expect people to be saved
every time you preach, do you?" "Well no," said the young preacher. "Well,
that is just why you don't see them get saved" said the great preacher.
Last week when I got on a plane, as always, I expect to sit next to someone
God has ready to receive the Lord Jesus. A lady and her mother sat next to
me. Was I disappointed when I found the lady next to me was married to a
preacher. We had good fellowship but I wanted to lead her to Christ!
Two teen age boys came by our house and I had the joy of sharing the gospel
with them. Again I was disappointed that they were already saved.
My wife has a very bad back and so has a cleaning lady clean the house. My
wife had a new lady last week. When she finished, as my wife was writing her
a check, I asked if she knew for sure she was going to heaven. She did not.
I told her how God loved her and sent His son the Lord Jesus to suffer and
die for our sins, paid the debt in full, rose again and was seen by hundreds
of people. She said, "I never heard it like that." How beautiful to see the
Holy Spirit open her heart and she prayed with me to
receive the Lord Jesus as her Savior.
Oh, dear people, "the harvest in plenteous." We should expect people to be
ready to receive the Lord Jesus. "Be not weary in well doing, for in due
season we shall reap if we faint not." Don't quit. That next one may be just
the one God has ready for you! |
