I Am Ready
Romans 1:15
As Astronaut Alan Shepard sat in the capsule and
checked every dial, switch and gauge, he came out with the classic
statement, "All systems are go!" He was saying, "I am ready." A soul
winner must be able to cry back to headquarters, "I am ready, all
systems are go."
A Christian must check to see that everything in his life is
functioning properly. Many are far behind in their prayer life. They
have no power and are stumbling along. Life is fragile, handle it with
prayer (Matt. 26:41; Heb. 4: 16; James 4:2, 3). Some have neglected
the Word and thus are not ready. Be transformed by the Word, not
conformed to the world (Ps. 119:11, 105, 130; Matt. 21:22; I Pet.
2:2). Sin has short-circuited the power of God in many lives. It is a
great sin to tolerate a little sin. Calvary is undisputable proof that
sin troubled God; does it trouble you? (Isa. 59:1, 2; Josh. 7:10, ll).
Oh, the joy to be able so say, "I am ready."
Isaiah could say it after he had seen the Lord, seen himself,
confessed his sin and received cleansing. He put it in these words,
"Here am I; send me" (Isa. 6:8). When Goliath challenged God's people
and all hearts feared, David saw the situation, became stirred in the
face of criticism and said, "Is there not a cause? . . . Let no man's
heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this
Philistine" (I Sam. 17:29, 32). David was ready.
When the Day of Pentecost came, Peter was there. Filled with the Holy
Spirit, he was ready, and God used him mightily. God has no favorites,
but he does have some intimates. When a Christian is ready and God has
control of his life, He can put him in the right place at the right
time to win souls to Christ. Too often when someone's heart is
prepared to receive the Lord, God must wonder, "Who will go for Me?"
He finds such answers as, "I have married a wife and cannot go," or "I
have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it" (Luke
14: 16-20). It is not an accident that a Christian should find himself
next to someone who is ready to receive Christ, if he has first said
to the Lord, "I am ready." Are you ready to leave your comforts to
reach someone who is ready to receive Christ7
